Long Fibre Injection
GLASS FIBRES - basic element for LFI.
This procedure is extremely suitable for large surface structural components (maximum mounting table size for molds 2,600 x 2,000 mm) for the automotive and commercial vehicle industry, like engine hoods for tractors, front panels, side trim panels, fenders, roofs, rear parcel shelfs for convertibles and top storage compartment lids, a.s.o. Regarding these parts stability and long life cycle are basic requirements.
Using Class A films a varnishing of plastic parts is not necessary any more - especially with exterior trim parts.
Whether PC-ITR, ASA/PC-PMMA or ABS-PMMA - these films are formed via vacuum thermoforming at first to obtain the outer skin and after that they are encapsulated (backfoamed) via LFI technology.
During this process a robot inserts a mixture, consisting of glass fibre and polyurethane, into the mold.
LFI technology has been running in Neureichenau since 2004 and constitutes a main activity of PARAT with more than 150,000 components annually up to now.
